Test 26A: BRAKELIGHT Switch Input

NOTE: Perform TEST 1A: CHECKING SYSTEM FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)  before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
NOTE: Brakelight switch may also be referred to as brake switch.
  1. Ensure brake pedal is fully released. Using scan tool, read brakelight switch status. If scan tool displays RELEASED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display RELEASED, adjust or replace brakelight switch as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A: VERIFICATION TEST  .
  2. Depress and hold brake pedal. Using scan tool, read brakelight switch status. If scan tool displays PRESSED, brakelight switch circuit is operating properly. If scan tool does not display PRESSED, go to next step.
  3. Check for proper operation of brakelights. If brakelights operate properly, repair open White/Tan wire between brakelight switch and CAB connector terminal No. 22. Perform TEST VER-1A: VERIFICATION TEST  . If brakelights do not operate properly, repair brakelights as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A.
