Test 133C - Bus Short To Battery

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Eagle Vision, 1997 Dodge Intrepid, 1997 Chrysler LHS, and 1997 Chrysler Concorde. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance between BCM Gray connector, terminal No. 6 (Tan wire) and BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Tan wire and Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  2. Measure resistance between BCM Gray connector, terminal No. 6 (Tan wire) and BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Tan wire and White/Black wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between BCM Gray connector, terminal No. 3 (Tan/Red wire) and BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Tan/Red wire and Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  4. Measure resistance between BCM Gray connector, terminal No. 3 (Tan/Red wire) and BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Tan/Red wire and White/Black wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  5. Measure resistance between BCM Bone connector, terminals No. 5 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 8 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Yellow/Red wire and Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  6. Measure resistance between BCM Bone connector, terminals No. 5 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 7 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Yellow/Red wire and White/Black wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  7. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance on BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 14 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  8. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance on BCM Bone connector, terminal No. 15 (Gray/Tan wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Gray/Tan wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
NOTE: For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
