Test 16A: Pump Motor Not Running

NOTE: Perform TEST 1A: CHECKING SYSTEM FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)  before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  1. DTC may be caused by loose connections, open pump/motor ground circuit, open pump/motor relay circuit to pump/motor or defective pump/motor. Go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If scan tool displays VALVE POWER FEED CIRCUIT, perform TEST 20A: VALVE POWER FEED CIRCUIT  . If scan tool does not display VALVE POWER FEED CIRCUIT, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition off, then on. Using scan tool, select SYSTEM TEST and perform PUMP TEST. Read DTCs. If scan tool displays PUMP MOTOR NOT RUNNING, go to step 5). If scan tool does not display PUMP MOTOR NOT RUNNING, go to next step.
  4. At this time, conditions required to set DTC are not present. DTC may be stored in CAB if pump/motor voltage decreases too quickly. Check for defective wiring harness or connectors at CAB, pump/motor relay and pump/motor. Repair defective wiring harness or connectors as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A: VERIFICATION TEST  . If wiring harness and connectors are okay, test is complete. Perform TEST VER-1A.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect pump/motor connector. Inspect connector and terminals for damage. Repair connector and terminals as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A: VERIFICATION TEST  . If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, actuate pump/motor. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on pump/motor connector terminal No. 2 (Brown/White wire). If voltage toggles between zero and battery voltage, go to next step. If voltage does not toggle between zero and battery voltage, repair open Brown/White wire between CAB and pump/motor. Perform TEST VER-1A: VERIFICATION TEST  .
  7. Stop pump/motor actuation. Reconnect pump/motor connector. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, backprobe pump/motor connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). Go to next step.
  8. Using scan tool, actuate pump/motor. If voltage is more than one volt, repair open Black wire between pump motor and ground. Perform TEST VER-1A: VERIFICATION TEST  . If voltage is not more than one volt, replace pump/motor. Perform TEST VER-1A.
