Test 38B - Shorted Courtesy Lamp Switch Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER  section in this article. Perform TEST VER-1  VERIFICATION TEST after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect headlight switch 8-pin connector. Using scan tool, read dome lamp switch status. If scan tool does not display DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, replace courtesy lamp dash switch. If scan tool displays DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 11 (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
