Power Top Test 2A - Inoperative Power Top Motor

NOTE: Perform POWER TOP TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Remove power top inhibit relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). Turn ignition on. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and power top inhibit relay terminal No. 30 (White/Yellow wire) on PDC. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open White/Yellow wire.
  2. Connect jumper wire between power top inhibit relay terminals No. 30 and 38 on PDC. Operate power convertible top. If power top operates correctly, go to next step. If power top does not operate correctly, go to POWER TOP TEST 2B  .
  3. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and power top inhibit relay terminal No. 18 (White/Red wire) on PDC. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace PDC.
  4. Using test light, connect one lead to power top inhibit relay terminal No. 18 and other lead to terminal No. 16 on PDC. If test light illuminates, replace power top inhibit relay. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  5. Connect jumper wire between ground and power top inhibit relay terminal No. 18 on PDC. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM 14-pin connector located at junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure and Figure in CHIME TESTS 2A and 3A. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 9 (White/Red wire) on 14-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open White/Red wire.
