VTSS Test 3A - Fused Ignition Switch Output Circuit To BCM

NOTE: Perform VTSS TEST 2A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Remove and inspect fuse No. 11 (10-amp) located in junction block. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is open, turn ignition off and go to next step.
  2. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 19 (Red/Violet wire) on fuse No. 11 socket. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace fuse No. 11.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove BCM from junction block and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure and Figure in CHIME TESTS 2A and 3A. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 19 (Red/Violet wire) on fuse No. 11 socket. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair ignition switch side (terminal No. 20) of fuse No. 11 and replace fuse. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace Body Control Module (BCM) and fuse No. 11.
  4. If fuse No. 11 is okay, turn ignition on. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 20 (Dark Green/Red wire) on fuse No. 11 socket. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, reinstall fuse No. 11 and go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Dark Green/Red wire between junction block and ignition switch.
  5. Turn ignition off. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from junction block and ensure connectors are clean and not damaged. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 6 on junction block internal 12-pin connector. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace junction block. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace BCM.
