Test SC-5A: Checking Brake Switch Sense

NOTE: Perform TEST CS-1A: CHECKING SPEED CONTROL OPERATION before proceeding.

At this point speed control switch and servo are functioning properly. Using scan tool, monitor speed control output status. Road test vehicle at speeds more than 35 MPH and attempt to set speed control. The following items will not allow speed control to set. The last or most recent cause for speed control not to set is indicated by the DENIED status. The following items identify denied status reasons:

Denied message: ON/OFF. PCM does not see ON signal from switch at PCM terminal No. 41.
Denied message: SPEED. Vehicle speed seen by PCM terminal No. 66 is not more than 30 MPH.
Denied message: RPM. Engine RPM is excessive (high).
Denied message: BRAKE. Brake switch sense circuit is open indicating to PCM that brakes are applied. PCM terminal No. 62 (sense circuit) is grounded through brake pedal switch when brakes are released.
Denied message: P/N. The park/neutral switch sense circuit is grounded indicating to PCM that transmission is not in gear. PCM terminal No. 62 (sense circuit) is grounded through Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) when transmission is in Park or Neutral.
Denied message: RPM/SPD. PCM senses excessive engine RPM for a given vehicle speed.
Denied message: SOL FLT. PCM senses a servo solenoid control circuit DTC that is maturing or set in memory.
