Parking Brake Switch Circuit Short To Ground
NOTE:
Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition off. Wait 60 seconds. Check washer fluid reservoir level. Fill as needed. If low washer fluid light failed to illuminate when reservoir was low, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 18B . If low washer fluid light is illuminated when reservoir was low, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Wait 60 seconds. Monitor instrument cluster. If low washer fluid light illuminated, go to next step. If low washer fluid light is not illuminated, system is currently operating correctly.
- Using scan tool, read washer fluid status. If scan tool displays WASH FLUID: OPEN, replace instrument cluster. If scan tool does not display WASH FLUID: OPEN, go to next step.
- Disconnect washer fluid switch connector. If scan tool displays WASH FLUID: OPEN, replace washer fluid level switch. If scan tool does not display WASH FLUID: OPEN, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster Blue 10-pin connector C2. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Black/Tan wire) on Blue connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Black/Tan wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace instrument cluster.
