Door Ajar Indicator Circuit Malfunction

NOTE: Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Close all doors. Using scan tool, read door ajar status of each door. If scan tool displays CLOSED for any door, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 1A . If scan tool does not display CLOSED for any door, go to next step.
  2. While monitoring scan tool, open and close each door. If scan tool display changes as door is opened and closed, go to next step. If scan tool display does not change as door is opened and closed, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 1A .
  3. Ensure all doors are closed. If door ajar indicator light illuminated constantly, go to next step. If door ajar indicator light is not illuminated, go to step  5.
  4. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray 14-pin connector C1. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure.
  5. Turn ignition to LOCK position. While observing door ajar indicator light, turn ignition switch to RUN position. If indicator light illuminates, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 1A . If indicator light does not illuminate, replace instrument cluster.
