Instrument Cluster And Panel Illumination Malfunctions
NOTE:
Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool, select BODY SENSORS. Read dimming level voltage. Rotate dimmer switch to low, then high position. If scan tool displays voltage change from 3 volts (approximately) to zero volts, go to next step. If scan tool does not display voltage change from 3 volts (approximately) to zero volts, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 3A .
- While observing instrument panel lights, rotate dimmer switch from low to high position. If lights stay at full brightness, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 9B . If lights fail to illuminate, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 9C . If lights illuminate, but do not stay at full brightness, system is currently operating correctly.
