Fuel Rail: Removal

  1. Release fuel pressure from fuel system. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable at remote battery terminal on passenger's side strut tower.
  3. Remove intake manifold plenum mounting bolts. Lift Plenum up off of engine. Cover intake manifold to prevent foreign material from entering engine.
  4. Disconnect fuel supply tube quick connect fitting at the rear of the fuel rail using proper procedure for fuel line disconnect fitting. See FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS .
  5. If the injector connectors are not tagged with their cylinder number, tag them to identify the correct cylinder. See Fig 1.
  6. Remove mounting bolts on both sides of fuel rail. Lift fuel rail straight up off of cylinder head.
  7. Remove retaining clips from fuel injectors at fuel rail. Remove fuel injector from fuel rail.
