NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRBIII, determine which control module is generating Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). If left Side Impact Air Bag Control Module (SIACM) is generating an active DTC, go to next step. If left SIACM is generating a stored DTC, go to TEST 1B: REPAIRING STORED CODES . If right SIACM is generating an active DTC, go to step 3. If right SIACM is generating a stored DTC, go to TEST 1B: REPAIRING STORED CODES .
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Using wiring diagram, compare wiring in left SIACM harness connector with wires displayed in wiring diagram. If left SIACM harness connector is correctly wired, replace left SIACM. See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (SIACM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If left SIACM harness connector is correctly wired, rewire connector.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Using wiring diagram, compare wiring in right SIACM harness connector with wires displayed in wiring diagram. If right SIACM harness connector is correctly wired, replace right SIACM. See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (SIACM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If right SIACM harness connector is correctly wired, rewire connector.
