Chime Sounds With Seat Belt Fastened
- Turn ignition on. Fasten left front seat belt. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: OPEN, go to next step. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: OPEN, system is operational with no problems found.
- Disconnect left seat belt switch connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: CLOSED, replace left seat belt switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector C5 and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire). See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
