Chime Sounds With Seat Belt Fastened

  1. Turn ignition on. Fasten left front seat belt. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: OPEN, go to next step. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: OPEN, system is operational with no problems found.
  2. Disconnect left seat belt switch connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: CLOSED, replace left seat belt switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM 20-pin connector C5 and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM 20-pin connector C5 terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire). See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
