Speed Control Verification
- Inspect vehicle to ensure all engine and speed control system components are connected. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary. Using scan tool, record and erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from PCM.
- Road test vehicle at a speed greater than 35 MPH. Turn speed control switch on. Press and release SET switch and verify speed control engages. If speed control engages, go to next step. If speed control does not engage, go to step 11.
- With speed control engaged, depress and hold ACCEL switch. If vehicle speed increases, release switch and go to next step. If vehicle speed does not increase, go to step 11.
- Press and hold DECEL switch. If vehicle speed decreases, release switch and go to next step. If vehicle speed does not decrease, go to step 11.
- Depress and release CANCEL switch. If speed control disengages, go to next step. If speed control does not disengage, go to step 11.
- Allow vehicle speed to drop below 25 MPH and depress RESUME switch. If vehicle resumes to previously set speed, go to next step. If vehicle does not resume to previously set speed, go to step 11.
- Using caution, press and release brake pedal to activate brakelight switch. If speed control disengages, go to next step. If speed control does not disengage, go to step go to step 11.
- Increase vehicle speed to more than 35 MPH. Press and release SET switch. If vehicle maintains new set speed, go to next step. If vehicle does not set or maintain a new set speed, go to step 11.
- Depress and release ON/OFF switch to OFF position. If speed control disengages, go to next step. If speed control did not disengage, go to step 11.
- Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If no DTCs are present and vehicle is operating as designed, repair is complete. If DTCs exist, or system is not operating as designed, go to next step.
- If speed control does not operate properly or DTCs exist, refer to appropriate diagnostic or repair procedures. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in appropriate ENGINE PERFORMANCE manual. Check for related TSBs. For speed control symptoms, return to TROUBLE SHOOTING , if necessary.
