Fuse Blows When Washer Switch Is Depressed

  1. Check for short in wiper/washer switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If wiper switch is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect wiper motor and 2-pin washer pump motor connectors. Using DVOM, measure resistance between wiper/washer switch connector terminal No. 2 (Brown wire) and ground. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, leave washer pump motor connector disconnected and go to next step.
  3. Check resistance across washer pump motor terminals No. 1 and 2. If continuity is indicated, replace washer pump motor. See WASHER PUMP MOTOR & SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
