Washer Inoperative
- If washer pump operates, but fluid does not flow, check for blocked, loose, broken or misrouted washer hoses. Repair as necessary. If washer pump does not operate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 5 (10-amp), located in junction block. See Figure
. If fuse is open, check for short to ground in Black/white wire between ignition switch and junction block, or short to ground in Dark Blue wire between junction block and multifunction switch. Repair circuit(s) as necessary and replace fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Check for damaged or corroded terminals in wiper motor connector. Repair as necessary. If wiper motor connector is okay, go to next step.
- Check wiper/washer switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH
under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace switch if necessary. If switch is okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect wiper/washer switch connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at wiper/washer switch connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue wire). See Fig 1
. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Dark Blue wire.
- Connect wiper/washer switch connector. Disconnect 2-pin washer pump connector. With washer switch depressed, measure voltage at washer pump connector terminal No. 1 (Brown wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Brown wire.
- Turn ignition off. Check continuity between ground and washer pump connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire.
- Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage to washer pump. If washer pump does not operate, replace washer pump. See WASHER PUMP MOTOR & SENSOR
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If washer pump operates, test is complete.
