Courtesy Lamps Inoperative (All Lamps)

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Remove the dome lamp lens. Remove and ensure the bulb is good. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the fused B+ circuit. If the test light illuminates brightly, go to the next step. If the test light does not illuminate brightly, repair the open fused B+ circuit.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster. See Figure. Connect a jumper wire between the courtesy lamp driver circuit and ground. Observe the dome lamp. If the test light illuminated brightly, replace the instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. If the test light did not illuminate brightly, go to the next step.
  3. Remove the dome lamp bulb. Disconnect the instrument cluster. Connect a jumper wire between the courtesy lamp driver circuit in the instrument cluster connector and ground. Measure the resistance of the courtesy lamp driver circuit from the dome lamp to the instrument cluster connector. If the resistance is below 5.0 ohms, the condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires. If the resistance is above 5.0 ohms, repair the open courtesy lamp driver circuit.
