Heated Mirror Inoperative
- Turn ignition on. Turn rear window defogger on. If rear window defogger operates properly, go to next step. If rear window defogger does not operate properly, diagnose defogger. See REAR WINDOW DEFOGGERS & HEATED MIRRORS article.
- Turn ignition off. Access power mirror assembly harness connector, located behind door trim panel. Disconnect power mirror assembly harness connector. Check continuity between power mirror assembly harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and ground. See Fig 1
. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between power mirror assembly harness connector and ground.
- Turn ignition on. Turn rear window defogger switch on. Measure voltage at power mirror assembly harness connector terminal No. 3 (Light Blue/Yellow wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 5
.
- Check power mirror assembly wiring. If problem exists, repair as necessary. If problem does not exist, replace power mirror assembly or mirror glass as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 18 (10-amp) in fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in Light Blue/Yellow wire between fuse block and appropriate power mirror assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- Turn ignition on. Turn rear window defogger switch on. Measure voltage at input side of fuse No. 18. If battery voltage exists, repair open in wiring between fuse block and appropriate power mirror assembly. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/White wire between fuse block and rear window defogger switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
