All Gauges Inoperative
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Ram Wagon, 2002 Dodge Ram Van, 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon, and 2001 Dodge Ram Van. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Possible Causes:
- PCM Inactive On The Bus
- Ignition Switch Output (Run/Start) Circuit Open
- Ignition Switch Output (Run/Start) Circuit Short To Ground
- Instrument Cluster
Testing
- Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 7 (10-amp) from fuse/relay block. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse and go to next step. If fuse is open, go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select ELECTRO/MECH CLUSTER, then SYSTEM TEST. If scan tool does not display PCM INACTIVE ON BUS, go to next step. If scan tool displays PCM INACTIVE ON BUS, perform NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (CCD) test under COMMUNICATIONS.
- Turn ignition off. Remove Electro-Mechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC). See ELECTRO-MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ignition feed circuit at EMIC connector C1 terminal No. 2 (Dark Blue/Pink wire) and ground. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in ignition feed circuit.
- Replace instrument cluster. See ELECTRO-MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Replace fuse No. 7. Turn ignition on, then off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 7. If fuse opens again, repair short to ground in ignition feed circuit as necessary. If fuse is okay, problem may be intermittent. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
