Convertible STAYPADS: Installation

  1. Install the rivets (5) at the header using the 6 inch webbing through poly sheeting (Fig 1 ).
    NOTE: The webbing must be showing on the top of the poly sheet for proper installation.
  2. Install rivets (4) at the #4 bow using the 4 inch webbing through poly sheeting (Fig 2 ).
    NOTE: The webbing must be showing on the top of the poly sheet for proper installation.

  3. Rotate the #3 bow forward aligning the outboard edge of the 6 inch webbing to outer edge of the 3 bow.
    NOTE: At the same time as the above step, align the rear edge of the 6 inch webbing to the rear edge of the tack strip on the #3 bow.
  4. Place a double row of 3/8 staples on both ends with a single row between them.
  5. Latch the header and the #4 bow.
  6. Rotate the #2 bow forward until it rest on stops.
    NOTE: The following step will create tension on the outboard edge of the webbing.
  7. Pull rearward on the cloth tab on 6 inch webbing.
  8. Wrap the cloth tab around the rear edge of the #3 bow.
    NOTE: You will need to punch a hole in tab for alignment of hole in #3 bow.
  9. Attach with rivet.
  10. Rotate #3 bow rearward until it bottoms out on stops. Lock into position with tape or cord to the 4 bow.
    NOTE: The #3 bow must stay stationary for proper installation.
  11. Align the inboard edge of through 4 inch webbing to the inboard edge of the 6 inch webbing.
  12. Clamp the 4 inch webbing with wide mouth vise grips, pull tension and staple a double row on both ends with a single row between them.
  13. Trim the excess 4 inch webbing at the #3 bow with a hot knife and remove tape or cord.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to cut into the 6 inch webbing.
  14. Latch the convertible top and verify proper operation.
