Test No. 13: Trunk Lid Key Switch Signal Is Not Sent To ETACS ECU

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect trunk lid key switch connector. Test trunk lid key switch by checking for continuity between trunk lid key switch terminals. With trunk lid key in unlock position, continuity should be less than 2 ohms. With trunk lid key in neutral position, continuity should not be indicated. If trunk lid key switch tests as specified, go to next step. If trunk lid key switch does not test as specified, replace trunk lid key switch. Recheck trunk lid key switch input signal.
  2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between trunk lid key switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or less, go to step  5 .
  3. Check for poor connections at trunk lid key switch connector terminals. If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. Recheck trunk lid key switch input signal. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  4. Check for open in Black wire between trunk lid key switch connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. Recheck trunk lid key switch input signal. If circuit is okay, system is okay at this time.
  5. Check for poor connections at ETACS ECU connector C317 and trunk lid key switch connector terminals. See Figure . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. Recheck trunk lid key switch input signal. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  6. Check for faulty Blue/Red wire between trunk lid key switch connector terminal No. 1 and ETACS ECU connector C317 terminal No. 28. See Figure . If faulty circuit is found, repair as necessary. Recheck trunk lid key switch input signal. If circuit is okay, replace ETACS ECU.
