Bus +/- Signals Open Or No Response From BCM

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) and Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB). If scan tool identifies or communicates with any module, go to next step. If scan tool does not identify or communicate with any module, go to PCI BUS COMMUNICATION FAILURE .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Using a test light connected to ground, probe BCM connector C1 terminals No 1 (White/Red wire) and No. 5 (Violet/Red wire). See Figure. If test light illuminates at both terminals, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate at either terminal, repair open in suspect circuit between BCM and Intelligent Power Module (IPM).
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 3 (Black/Tan wire) and connector C2 terminals No. 15 (Black/Tan wire) and No. 19 (Black/Tan wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less at all terminals, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms at any terminal, repair open in suspect Black/Tan wire between BCM and ground located in passenger's "B" pillar.
  4. Obtain Scope Input Cable (CH7058), Cable To Probe Adapter (CH7062) and Red and Black test probes. Connect scope input cable to channel 1 connector on scan tool. Connect Red and Black test probes and probe adapter to scope input cable. Select Pep Module Tools on scan tool. Select LAB SCOPE then LIVE DATA. Select 12V SQUARE WAVE. Press F2 for scope then enter to select channel. Press F2 again and use down arrow to set voltage range to 20 volts. Set probe to x10. Press F2 again to complete. Connect Black probe to ground and Red probe to BCM connector C3 terminal No. 23 (White/Violet wire). See Figure. Turn ignition on. Monitor scope on scan tool. If voltage pulses between zero and 7.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage does not pulse between zero and 7.5 volts, repair open in White/Violet wire (PCI bus circuit) between BCM and diagnostic junction port terminal No. 6. See Figure.
  5. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
