Gearshift Cable: Removal

  1. Loosen set screw and remove knob from shifter handle. See Figure .
  2. Remove the center console assembly. See Figure .
  3. Remove shifter bezel. See Fig 1 .
  4. Disconnect shift cable from shifter mechanism. See Fig 2 .
  5. Remove three grommet plate to floor pan nuts. See Fig 2 .
  6. Remove air cleaner assembly. See Fig 3 .
  7. Disconnect both battery cables, remove battery hold down clamp and bolt, and remove battery. See Fig 4 .
  8. Remove battery tray from bracket. See Fig 5 .
  9. Disconnect shifter cable from shift lever and remove from bracket. See Fig 6 .
  10. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  11. Remove catalytic converter heat shield. See Fig 7 .
  12. Remove remaining grommet plate screw and remove cable assembly from vehicle. See Fig 8 .
