Camshaft Position Sensor

On 2.4L, Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor is located on rear of cylinder head, just below valve cover. On 3.3L and 3.8L, CMP sensor is located on top of timing chain cover, just below thermostat housing. On all models, individual component testing is not available from manufacturer. If camshaft position sensor or wiring circuit failure exists, a DTC may be stored in the powertrain control module. See the following:
