Front Wheel Speed Sensor: Removal

  1. Raise vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Remove the sensor cable routing clamp screws.
  4. CAUTION: When disconnecting the wheel speed sensor from vehicle wiring harness, be careful not to damage pins on connector.
  5. Remove speed sensor cable grommets from intermediate bracket on strut.
  6. Disconnect speed sensor cable from vehicle wiring harness behind fender well shield.
  7. Remove the wheel speed sensor head mounting bolt (Fig 1 ).

  8. Remove sensor head from steering knuckle. If sensor has seized due to corrosion, DO NOT USE PLIERS ON SENSOR HEAD.  Use a hammer and a punch and tap edge of sensor ear, rocking the sensor side-to-side until free.
  9. Remove front wheel speed sensor from vehicle.
