Engine Cooling System & Automatic Transmission Cooling System: Engine: Radiator: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
  2. Discardge the A/C system (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE ).
  3. Remove the front fascia FRONT FASCIA .
  4. WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE THE CYLINDER BLOCK PLUG OR THE RADIATOR DRAINCOCK WITH THE SYSTEM HOT AND UNDER PRESSURE BECAUSE SERIOUS BURNS FROM COOLANT CAN OCCUR.
  5. Drain the cooling system. (Refer to COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
  6. Disconnect the radiator fan electrical connectors.
  7. Disconnect coolant reserve/recovery hose.
  8. Remove A/C lines A/C CONDENSER .
  9. Remove the auxiliary transmission cooler hoses.
  10. Remove the pushpins and the upper radiator seal.
  11. Remove the pushpins and the LH and RH radiator seal. See Fig 1.

  12. Remove the A/C condenser side brackets to radiator attaching screws. See Fig 2. Separate the condenser from the radiator by lifting upward to disengage from lower mounts. See Fig 2. Allow the condenser to rest in front of radiator.

  13. Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses.
  14. Radiator can now be lifted free from engine compartment. Care should be taken not to damage radiator cooling fins or water tubes during removal. See  Fig 3

  15. Remove the auxiliary transmission from the radiator module.
  16. Remove the cooling fan assembly from the radiator module.
