Stabilizer Bar: Installation
- Install stabilizer bar back in vehicle with the bushings removed using the reverse sequence of removal.
- When stabilizer bar is installed in vehicle, it must be installed with the bend in the end of the stabilizer bar positioned up in vehicle when viewed from the side. See Fig 1.
1 - INCORRECTLY INSTALLED POSITION OF STABILIZER BAR 2 - CORRECTLY INSTALLED POSITION OF STABILIZER BAR - Install the stabilizer bar onto the stabilizer bar links and bushings. See Figure. Tighten the link nuts to 31 N.m (23 ft. lbs.).
- Loosely install the stabilizer bar bushing retainers over the stabilizer bar bushings on the rear suspension crossmember.
- Position the stabilizer bar so it is centered in the vehicle and does not contact other suspension components or vehicle body.
- Tighten the bushing retainer bolts securing the stabilizer bar bushings to the rear crossmember to 34 N.m (25 ft. lbs.). See Figure.
- Install wheel and tire assembly on vehicle. Tighten the wheel mounting stud nuts in proper sequence until all nuts are torqued to half specification. Then repeat the tightening sequence to the full specified torque of 135 N.m (100 ft. lbs.).
- Lower the vehicle.
