Gearshift Mechanism: Removal

- Disconnect negative battery cable and isolate.
- Remove the gearshift knob set screw (2) and knob (1). See Fig 1.
1 - CENTER CONSOLE ASSEMBLY 2 - GEARSHIFT BEZEL 3 - LAMP CONNECTOR - Remove gearshift bezel (2), disconnect range indicator lamp connector (3). See Fig 2.
1 - CENTER CONSOLE 2 - SCREW 3 - PARK BRAKE HANDLE - - - Remove center console assembly (1). See Fig 3.
1 - CLIP 2 - CABLE 3 - CONDUIT BRACKET 4 - SHIFT PIN - Loosen nut on shift cable adjust lever.
- Using a flat blade pry tool, remove the shifter cable core end (2). See Fig 4from the shift lever pin (4).
- Using a flat blade pry tool, pry the cable conduit clip up from the shifter bracket. Pull up on the cable conduit and remove from bracket (3).
1 - RELEASE CABLE HERE - Release interlock cable adjuster (1). See Fig 5end by inserting pointed object into shift bracket to disengage lock.
1 - SHIFTER ASSEMBLY 2 - INTERLOCK CABLE - Unsnap the shifter/ignition interlock cable adjuster end (2)from the slot in the gearshift mechanism bracket and disconnect cable core from shifter assembly (1). See Fig 6.
1 - AUTOSTICK CONNECTOR - Unplug autostick connector (1). See Fig 7.
1 - NUTS (5) 2 - SHIFTER ASSEMBLY - Remove the five nuts (1) at the base of the shifter assembly (2). Remove assembly from vehicle. See Fig 8.
