  1. Install engine lift fixture (2) Special tool # 8984 and 8984-UPD (4).
  2. Position the engine in the engine compartment.
  3. Lower engine into compartment and align engine with transmission.
  4. Mate engine and transmission and install two transmission to engine block mounting bolts finger tight.
  5. Lower engine assembly until engine mount studs rest in frame perches.

    Install transmission to oil pan bolts (1). Refer to INSTALLATION .

  6. Install remaining transmission to engine block mounting bolts (1, 2) and tighten. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  7. Install and tighten engine mount to frame nuts. Refer to ENGINE MOUNTING .

  8. Install drive plate to torque converter bolts (1). Refer to INSTALLATION .

  9. Install the torque convertor access cover (1). Refer to INSTALLATION .

  10. Install the starter (1) and heat shield (4) and connect the starter wires. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  11. Install exhaust pipe to manifold. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  12. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Remove engine lift fixture (2), special tool # 8984 and 8984-UPD (4).
  14. Reinstall the left coolant tube.
  15. Reinstall the left and right side wiring harness.
  16. Reinstall both knock sensors.
  17. Reinstall the cam position sensor.

  18. Connect the left heater hose (1).

  19. Connect the right heater hose (1).
  20. Reconnect the ground wires to the rear of each cylinder head.
  21. Reconnect the oil temperature sensor.
  22. Reconnect the oil pressure sensor.
  23. Reinstall the power steering pump.
  24. Install the intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD - INTAKE .
  25. Connect the fuel supply line. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  26. Install the generator (2), and wire connections. Refer to INSTALLATION .

  27. Install the generator support bracket (1). Refer to INSTALLATION .

  28. Install a/c compressor (3). Refer to 5.7L/6.1L ENGINES .
  29. Reinstall the A/C suction line. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  30. Reinstall the A/C liquid line. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  31. Reinstall the A/C discharge line at the compressor. Refer to INSTALLATION .

  32. Reconnect all oxygen sensors.
  33. Reconnect fuel injectors.
  34. Reconnect the MAP sensor.
  35. Reconnect the coolant temp sensor.
  36. Reconnect the crank position sensor.
  37. Reconnect the ignition coils.
  38. Reconnect the diode connector and ground.
  39. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  40. Install the radiator fan. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  41. Connect the upper and radiator lower hose.
  42. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator.

  43. Install cowl top panel. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  44. Install the air cleaner and duct work. Refer to SYSTEM - AIR INTAKE INSTALLATION .
  45. Add engine oil to crankcase. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
  46. Install coolant recovery container. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  47. Fill cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  48. Install the engine covers (1).

  49. Connect battery negative cable.
  50. Start engine and inspect for leaks.
  51. Install the belly pan (2). Refer to INSTALLATION .
  52. Road test vehicle.
