3.0L Diesel

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

  2. Remove the engine cover (1)

  3. Remove the air cleaner cover (2) and tube assembly (1). .

  4. Remove the accessory drive belt (3). Refer to Cooling/Accessory Drive/BELT, Serpentine - Removal .
  5. Raise and support vehicle.
  6. Remove the front and rear belly pan. Refer to Body/Exterior/BELLY PAN - Removal .
  7. Drain the coolant system. Refer to Cooling - Standard Procedure .

  8. Install the special tool # 8534B Engine Support Fixture.
  9. Remove the left engine mount through bolts
  10. Remove the right engine mount insulator. .

  11. Remove the sway bar mounting bracket heat shields.

  12. Remove sway bar brackets, let the sway bar hang down and out of the way.
  13. Mark the location of the engine cradle.
  14. Loosen the right side engine cradle bolts.

  15. Clamp the front heater hose.

  16. Clamp the rear heater hose.

  17. Disconnect the heater tube connection. There will be some coolant loss.

  18. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the generator.

  19. Remove the upper mounting bolts and radio noise suppressor.
  20. Remove the lower mounting bolts.

  21. Remove the generator from the vehicle.
