Column Shift

CAUTION: All fasteners must be torqued to specification to ensure proper operation of the steering column.

  1. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the WIN and position the WIN to the instrument panel.
  2. Install the four screws (1) that secure the WIN.

  3. Raise the steering column assembly (2) into place and install the upper mounting bolts (1). Tighten the bolts (1) to 30 N.m (22 ft. lbs.).

  4. Position the roll top shroud (1) and install the three mounting screws.

  5. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to Electrical/Instrument Cluster - Installation .

  6. Install the cluster bezel. Refer to Body/Instrument Panel/BEZEL, Instrument Cluster - Installation .

  7. Install the gear shift lever. Refer to Steering/Column/LEVER, Gearshift - Installation .

  8. Install the steering column opening cover. Refer to Body/Instrument Panel/COVER, Steering Column Opening - Installation .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. It is important that this is performed properly (including calibration of steering angle sensor if equipped with ESP). Refer to Electrical/Battery System - Standard Procedure .
  10. Perform the Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) initialization procedure whenever the WIN or shaft lock module is replaced on vehicles equipped with the shaft lock module. Refer to Electrical/Vehicle Theft Security - Standard Procedure and. See Electrical/Electronic Control Modules - Standard Procedure .
