Charging System (Service Information): Generator: Installation: 3.6L
- Position the generator to the engine and install the lower retaining bolt (1) finger tight.
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Install the upper generator retaining bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the field wire connector to the generator.
- Position the generator B(+) terminal eyelet to the generator output stud. Install the retaining nut and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the insulator cover onto the B(+) output terminal.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE

- Tighten the lower generator retaining bolt (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the both belly pans. Refer to BELLY PAN, INSTALLATION
.CAUTION:
When installing a serpentine accessory drive belt, the belt MUST be routed correctly. The water pump will be rotating in the wrong direction if the belt is installed incorrectly, causing the engine to overheat.
CAUTION:Do not let the tensioner arm snap back to the freearm position, severe damage may occur to the tensioner.
- Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner (7) counterclockwise until it contacts the stop and install the accessory drive belt (4) onto the pulleys and slowly release the tensioner.
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
