Occupant Classification Module (OCM): Installation

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.

• All of the components of the OCS including the Occupant Classification Module (OCM), the seat weight sensor, the plastic insulator seat weight sensor pad, the passenger seat cushion foam, the electronic pressure sensor, the OCS pressure hose, and the heat mat and vent bag (if equipped), are serviced only as a factory-calibrated and assembled unit. Any time any one of these components requires replacement for any reason, discard all of the removed OCS components including the OCM with integral and internal electronic pressure sensor, the pressure hose, the seat weight sensor, the plastic insulator seat weight sensor pad, the heat mat and vent bag (if equipped), and the seat cushion foam and replace them with the entire contents of the proper factory-calibrated OCS service replacement package, then re-zero the OCS in the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) using a diagnostic scan tool  . Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.
• Position the seat weight sensor, the plastic insulator seat weight sensor pad, the OCS pressure hose and the OCM with integral electronic pressure sensor to the top of the front seat cushion pan as a unit. Lift the back of the seat weight sensor and pad far enough to access and insert the OCM and pressure hose between the seat cushion springs to the underside of the seat cushion. Be certain the pressure hose is not pinched or kinked.
• If the vehicle is equipped with heated seats, vented seats or both, the proper OCM kit will come with these components attached to the new seat cushion foam.
• Collect ALL  of the OCS components, including the seat cushion foam assembly replaced during this repair procedure. Be certain ALL  parts are the original equipment parts. Return ALL  removed parts to the Mopar Quality Center / QEC for root cause evaluation. If the original equipment removed parts have not ALL been replaced, return to Step 1 and complete all steps of the repair process.
• From the underside of the seat, snap the OCM to the blade of the mounting bracket beneath the outboard front corner of the seat. Route the pressure hose away from sharp or moving objects and be certain the hose is not kinked.
• Do not connect the negative battery cable at this time. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Verification Test procedure should be performed following service of any SRS component. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
• Following successful completion of the SRS Verification Test procedure, perform the OCM System Verification Test procedure found in the diagnostic scan tool under Miscellaneous Functions. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic procedures.
