Removal And Installation: Left: Removal
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Mark the intake variable valve timing solenoid and the exhaust variable valve timing solenoid with a paint pen or equivalent so that they may be reinstalled in their original locations.
1 - Solenoid Mounting Bolts 2 - Wiring Harness Retainer 3 - Electrical Connector NOTE:Mark the variable valve timing solenoid connectors with a paint pen or equivalent so that they may be reinstalled in their original locations.
NOTE:The intake and exhaust solenoids are not interchangeable.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the intake variable valve timing solenoid.
- Carefully detach wiring harness retainer from the intake variable valve timing solenoid.
- Remove the variable valve timing solenoid mounting bolts.
- Pull the intake variable intake valve timing solenoid from the cylinder head cover.
1 - Solenoid Mounting Bolts 2 - Electrical Connector - Disconnect the electrical connector from the exhaust variable valve timing solenoid.
- Remove the exhaust variable valve timing solenoid mounting bolts.
- Pull the exhaust variable valve timing solenoid from the cylinder head cover.
1 - Seal - The seal can be reused if not damaged.
