Shift Control Cable: Installation

  1. Push the shift control cable through firewall into passenger compartment. Seat rubber grommet in firewall. See Figure .
    NOTE: Use foaming glass cleaner to ease installation.
  2. Move transaxle shift lever to Park position and install shift control cable into transaxle mount bracket.
  3. Install clip onto shift control cable at transaxle mount bracket. See Figure .
  4. Snap shift control cable onto transaxle shift control lever. Install retaining clip onto transaxle shift control lever. See Figure .
  5. Move shifter forward until it contacts stop, then install shift control cable at selector in the vehicle. Tighten attachment nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Insert shift control cable into connecting slot on shift control lever and secure it with pinch bolt and nut. See Figure . Tighten adjustment pinch bolt and nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Install floor console trim panel. Install battery tray and battery.
