Pressure Regulator: Installation
- Replace pressure regulator "O" ring with a new one. Clamp hexagonal section of delivery pipe in vice. Screw pressure regulator into delivery pipe, by hand, as far as it will go.
- Back off pressure regulator so vacuum sensing pipe may be located 45° downward from horizontal plane, facing toward rear of engine and when it is mounted on engine. Tighten lock nut to 25-33 ft.lbs (34-44 N.m).
- Replace injector "O" ring with a new one. Apply gasoline to injector "O" ring. Install delivery pipe. Make sure pipe is connected with injector properly. Tighten pipe in 2 or 3 stages. Tighten to 7-12 ft.lbs (10-16 N.m).
- Ensure that injector can be turned lightly by hand. Install fuel hose to delivery pipe with a new gasket. Tighten to 25-33 ft.lbs. (34-44 N.m). Install fuel hose to fuel filter with new gasket. Connect fuel return pipe to pressure regulator.
- Install surge tank to intake manifold with a new gasket. Tighten bolt evenly to specification over 2 or 3 stages. Tighten to 11-16 ft.lbs (15-22 N.m). Reconnect following vacuum hoses: blow-by gas hose, A/C fast idle device, BVSV vacuum hose, pressure regulator vacuum sensing hose, atmospheric pressure VSV vacuum hose, vacuum hose to air cleaner, brake booster hose.
- Reconnect connector for following parts: cold start injector, TPS, intake air temperature sensor, EGR VSV, and fast idle VSV. Install surge tank stay. Install clamp for wiring at back of surge tank. Install oil cooler hose and water pump hose to throttle body.
- Install air hose to throttle body. Install accelerator cable to throttle body. Tighten lock nut to 84-144 In. lbs. (9.5-16.5 N. m.). Check to see if play of accelerator cable is .12-.31 In. (3-8 mm). Install EGR pipe. Fill coolant. Connect negative terminal of battery. Start engine. Check engine for water leakage, fuel leakage and coolant level.
