Testing Preparation

  1. Ensure belt tension is within specification. Refer to the BELT TENSION SPECIFICATIONS  table. Disconnect power steering pump pressure hose at steering gear or pump. Raise and hold end of hose to prevent fluid loss. Install fitting with shutoff valve and Pressure Gauge (C-3309E) on pressure hose. Install another hose from valve side of fitting to steering gear inlet.
    NOTE: Pressure gauge must be installed between power steering pump and steering gear on the pressure hose. Shutoff valve must be on outlet side of pressure gauge.
  2. Open valve. Run engine until fluid reaches normal operating temperature of 150-170°F (66-77°C). Check fluid level. Add fluid (if necessary).
