Engine Block

The cylinder block is made of a sand-cast aluminum alloy. Cylinder block has interference-fit powdered metal cylinder liners. Cylinder liners are thermally installed during block manufacturing; they are not serviceable items. Six iron main bearing caps use four bolts per cap; 2 vertical and 2 horizontal. A windage tray is attached to 4 main caps via extended main cap bolts. Block and heads incorporate a unique parallel coolant flow.
