System Tests

  1. Ensure power door lock system operates correctly. See POWER DOOR LOCKS - NEON article. Access RKE module. See COMPONENT TESTS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect module harness connectors.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between RKE module Gray connector terminals No. 1 and 4. See Fig 1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuits as needed. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .

  3. Check for continuity between RKE module Gray connector terminals No. 2 and 3. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuits as needed. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Check for continuity between RKE module Black connector terminal No. 1 and RKE module Gray connector terminal No. 3. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuits as needed. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  5. Check for continuity between RKE module Black connector terminal No. 8 and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuits as needed. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  6. Ensure ignition is off. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between RKE module Black connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, inspect and repair circuit as needed. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  7. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between RKE module Black connector terminal No. 8 and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, inspect and repair circuit as needed. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  8. Ensure transmitter batteries are okay. Replace as needed. Ensure transmitter(s) is programmed. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING  under PROGRAMMING. If transmitter programming is not possible, check continuity of programming lead. Programming lead is located behind passenger side kick panel. Programming lead is Green with Red bullet connector. Repair as needed. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  9. Check horn operation. If horn does not work, repair as needed. If horn works okay, replace RKE module. Program replacement RKE module. See RKE MODULE PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING.
