Using Scan Tool & Transmitter

  1. To enter hazard answerback customize mode, connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition to lock (off). Close driver's door. Turn windshield wiper switch on. After 10 seconds, Electronic Timer Alarm Control System Electronic Control Unit (ETACS ECU) will sound once. ETACS ECU will now be in hazard answerback customize mode. If next steps are not performed within 3 minutes, hazard answerback customize mode will automatically cancel.
  2. If Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter LOCK button is pressed 2 times within 2 seconds, ETACS ECU will sound to confirm hazard light answerback function has been enabled or disabled. This will cause the hazard lights to flash when doors are locked. If hazard light lock answerback function is turned from off to on (enabled), ETACS ECU will sound one time. If hazard light lock answerback function is turned from on to off (disabled), ETACS ECU will sound 2 times.
  3. If RKE transmitter UNLOCK button is pressed 2 times within 2 seconds, ETACS ECU will sound to confirm hazard light answerback function has been enabled or disabled. This will cause the hazard lights to flash when doors are unlocked. If hazard light unlock answerback function is turned from off to on (enabled), ETACS ECU will sound one time. If hazard light unlock answerback function is turned from on to off (disabled), ETACS ECU will sound 2 times.
  4. To cancel or exit hazard answerback function mode, disconnect scan tool, turn ignition to position other than lock (off), remove key from ignition switch or open driver's door.
