Secret Code Registration

Each Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter contains a secret code. Secret codes for each transmitter are stored in the Electronic Timer Alarm Control System Electronic Control Unit (ETACS ECU). Secret code may have to be reentered into ETACS ECU when one or more of the following conditions are present.

Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed into ETACS ECU memory. When additional transmitters are programmed, all transmitters (existing and new) will have to be programmed at the same time or ETACS ECU will no longer recognize existing transmitters.

  1. To enter secret code registration mode, connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . If scan tool is not available, connect a jumper wire between ground and DLC terminal No. 1. See Fig 1 .
  2. Press hazard warning light switch 6 times within 10 seconds. Cycling hazard warning light switch on and off counts as 2 times. Press and release LOCK or UNLOCK button on RKE transmitter once. Within 10 seconds of pressing button, press LOCK or UNLOCK button again 2 times. This will register transmitter code to ETACS ECU.
  3. When transmitter code is registered into ETACS ECU, doors will automatically lock and unlock to indicate registration is complete. If additional transmitters are to be programmed, repeat step  2 within one minute for each transmitter to be registered.
  4. Registration mode will cancel if additional transmitters are not registered within one minute of last transmitter. Registration mode will cancel after 4 transmitters have been registered. Registration mode will also cancel if scan tool is disconnected or ignition key is removed from ignition switch.
