No Communication With Engine Control Module/Powertrain Control Module
- Turn ignition off. Locate Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM). See ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE LOCATIONS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Check ECM connector C-122, or PCM connector C-119 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. See Figure or Figure . If faulty connections are found, repair as necessary. If connections are okay, go to next step.
- Check for open or short to ground in Gray/Red wire between Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 1, and ECM connector C-122 terminal No. 84 or PCM connector C-119 terminal No. 84. See Figure and Figure or Figure . If problem does not exist, go to next step. If problem exists, repair Gray/Red wire. Recheck communication.
- Check for open or short to ground in Red/White wire between DLC terminal No. 7, and ECM connector C-122 terminal No. 85 or PCM connector C-119 terminal No. 85. If problem does not exist, go to BATTERY & IGNITION VOLTAGE CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT CHECK. If problem exists, repair Red/White wire. Recheck communication.
