Gear Shift Mechanism: Installation

  1. Install shifter assy. to floor pan (Figure ). Install and tighten four nuts to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.) torque.
  2. Install selector cable to shifter lever and secure cable to shifter bracket. Install clip (Figure ).
  3. Install crossover cable to shifter lever and secure cable to shifter bracket. Install clip (Figure ).
  4. Install center console assembly (Figure ).
  5. Install gearshift boot to console. Locate boot to console at forward tab and secure with retaining tabs.
  6. Position knob hole over the gearshift mechanism and align the shift pattern (Figure ). Strike knob with rubber mallet to engage knob to mechanism.
  7. Connect battery negative cable.
