Fuel Injectors: Removal

  1. Release fuel system pressure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE in this section.
  2. Remove the battery cover and disconnect negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly, refer to the AIR CLEANER HOUSING for more information.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector to the MAP sensor and Coolant Temperature sensor (Fig 1).

  5. Disconnect the electrical connector to the TPS and Idle Air Control (Fig 2).

  6. Remove the wiring harness from the wiring clips under thew throttle body (Fig 3).

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel injectors (Fig 4).

  8. Disconnect the fuel line quick connector (Fig 5).

  9. Remove the bolts for the fuel rail (Fig 6).

  10. Pull fuel rail and injectors straight up and out of the intake manifold.
  11. Move the fuel rail forward and out from under the intake manifold and throttle body (Fig 7).

  12. Remove the fuel injector from the fuel rail (Fig 8).
