WARNING: Do not disconnect the support rod cylinders with the liftgate closed. The support rod pistons are operated by high pressure gas. This pressure could cause damage and/or personal injury if they are removed while the pistons are compressed.
  1. Open and support the liftgate.
  2. Disconnect the power liftgate link rod, if equipped. (Refer to ELECTRICAL/POWER LIFTGATE-SERVICE INFO/LINK ROD - REMOVAL)
  3. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, remove the upper rear headliner trim.
  4. Remove the support cylinders from the liftgate. (Refer to BODY/DECKLID/HATCH/LIFTGATE/TAILGATE/SUPPORT CYLINDER - REMOVAL) 
  5. Disconnect the wire harnesses and the washer hose.
  6. Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the hinge location.
  7. Remove the six liftgate to body bolts (1) and remove liftgate from vehicle.
