Module, Powertrain Control: Installation: Diesel

  1. Install the powertrain control module (PCM) (1). Tighten nuts (2) to 5 N.m (44 in. lbs.).

  2. Install the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and bracket into vehicle. Tighten nut to 5 N.m (44 in. lbs.).
  3. Connect wire harness connector (1).

  4. Connect and lock the PCM wire harness connectors (1, 2).

  5. Install the PCM wire harness connector cover (1). Tighten nuts (2) to 5 N.m (44 in. lbs.).

  6. Attach wire harness to bracket and connect wire harness connector (2).
  7. Connect the transmission wire harness connector (1).

  8. Install the Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover (2) and securely tighten nuts (1).
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
    NOTE:

    If a new PCM is installed, it must be programed with the original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and mileage. If this is not done, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may set.

    NOTE:

    If a new PCM is installed. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL, MODULE PROGRAMMING .

  10. If a new PCM is being installed, use a scan tool and program the new PCM with the original VIN and vehicle mileage.
