Stabilizer Bar, Front: Installation

  1. Thoroughly clean stabilizer bar in area of bushing contact. Install each NEW bushing on stabilizer bar by opening slit in bushing and wrapping it around stabilizer bar, positioning it against retainer ring on bar.
  2. Slide bushing retainers over bushings.

  3. Install stabilizer bar assembly (3) back into vehicle in reverse order of removal through wheel opening.
  4. Position bushing retainers (2) against frame rails, then install four retainer bolts. DO NOT TIGHTEN AT THIS TIME  .

  5. Install ends of stabilizer bar (5) onto stabilizer bar link studs. Install upper nuts (1). DO NOT TIGHTEN AT THIS TIME  .

  6. Tighten four stabilizer bar bushing retainer (2) bolts to the proper specifications. Refer to FRONT, SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install wheel and tire assemblies. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  8. Lower vehicle.
  9. Position vehicle on alignment rack/drive-on hoist.

    NOTE:

    On models equipped with six piston calipers the calipers need to be unbolted from the knuckle and hung out of the way so that the suspension height stands can be installed correctly.

  10. Remove tire and wheels assemblies and install (special tool #9096, Height Stands, Suspension) (1) onto the hub and bearing assembly (2) and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Tighten stabilizer bar link to stabilizer bar nuts to the proper specifications. Refer to FRONT, SPECIFICATIONS .
    NOTE:

    On models equipped with six piston calipers the calipers need to be reinstalled onto the knuckle and tighten the two mounting bolts to the proper specifications. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS  .

  12. Remove the special tool and install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  13. Lower vehicle.
