Switch, Speed Control: Installation: Installation
WARNING:
To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, Occupant Classification System (OCS), seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment.

- Position the speed control switch pod (2) and the mounting adapter plate (4) to the back of the right steering wheel spoke front bezel (1).
- Install and tighten the three screws (5) that secure the mounting adapter plate and the switch to the bezel. Tighten the screws securely.
- Position the right front spoke bezel, mounting adapter plate and speed control switch as a unit close enough to the steering wheel to reconnect the steering wheel wire harness connection to the connector receptacle integral to the inboard end of the speed control switch pod.
- Position the right front spoke bezel, mounting adapter plate and speed control switch pod as a unit to the steering wheel. Be certain that the steering wheel wire harness is not pinched.
- With the front spoke bezel positioned so that the adapter plate retention post (3) is directly over the resilient retention grommet in the steering wheel spoke armature, push the right spoke bezel firmly and evenly downward until it is flush against the steering wheel.
- From the back of the right horizontal spoke of the steering wheel (1), install and tighten the screw (3) between the remote radio switch (4) (if equipped) and the floating horn switch plate mounting screw clearance hole (2). Tighten the screw securely.
- From the face of the steering wheel, install and tighten the two screws (1) that secure the stanchions (4) of the mounting adapter plate within the hub cavity of the steering wheel armature. Tighten the screws securely.
