Solenoid, Variable Valve Timing: Description
The Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) engine is equipped with variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust camshafts. A variable valve timing solenoid is used to direct engine oil to the camshaft mounted phasers. The solenoid receives pulse width modulation signal and the current is controlled within 0 ma to 1000 ma. The solenoid spool position is controllable at any position to control the supply of oil between the advance and retard ports of the phaser.
