To protect eyes from battery acid, a suitable pair of industrial grade safety glasses, should be worn when removing or servicing a battery.
To protect the hands from battery acid, a suitable pair of industrial grade heavy duty rubber gloves, should be worn when removing or servicing a battery. Safety glasses also should be worn.
Remove metallic jewelry to avoid injury by accidental arcing of battery current.
The battery negative and positive cable polarity are different from the gasoline engine equipped vehicles to the diesel engine equipped vehicles. Please note the location of the positive and negative cables prior to service of the battery or related components.

Remove metallic jewelry to avoid injury by accidental arcing of battery current.
The negative battery cable remote terminal (2) must be disconnected and isolated from the remote battery post (1) prior to service of the vehicle electrical systems. The negative battery cable remote terminal can be isolated by using the supplied isolation hole (3) in the terminal casing.
- Install the battery (1) into the battery tray (2).
- If equipped, position the battery vent tube through the hole in the bottom of the battery tray.
- Install the battery clamps (1, 3). Tighten the nut (2) to 9 N.m (80 ft. lbs.).
- Install the negative battery cable onto the battery post. Lock the clamp (1).
- If removed, install the battery disconnect fuse (2). Tighten the nut (1) to 6 N.m (53 in. lbs.).
- Install the positive battery cable (5) to the fuse block. Tighten the nut (4) to 6 N.m (53 in. lbs.).
- If removed, position the battery fuse block (3) and insert the clamp onto the positive battery post. Tighten the clamp nut (1) to 6 N.m (53 in. lbs.).
- Install the screws (2).
- Install the battery cover (1).
